Small Tolerance Range Good Toughness Pultruded Carbon Fibre Tube
Pullwinding/Pultrusion
In the pullwinding process, the fibers are impregnated with a thermoset resin (normally epoxy) and pulled through a heated mould where curing takes place. This process enables accurate control of the crosswise and longitudinal fibres and thus properties of the final product by adjusting the amount of lengthwise and crosswise fibres. The products are cut to length at the end of the production line.
During this process, the reinforcing fibres are wound onto the UD yarns by rotating winding equipment. Winding the fibres on twice in this way provides greater bending and torsional strength than in the case of pultruded or extruded tubes.
Some application ideas: Support structures, robot arms, bicycle parts, mass critical machinery items such as textile machine parts, telescopic poles, camera tripods, tool handles, kite tubes, microphone booms, Hi-Fi music stands, defense applications and many more.
Our Carbon Fiber Pultruded Tubes are manufactured by pulling continuous carbon fibers combined with a resin matrix through a heated steel forming die.
LIJIN offers a range of roll-wrapped carbon fibre tubing. Using existing tooling LIJIN can be manufactured in a wide range of sizes; our carbon fibre tubing can also be supplied using several different fibre weights and weave styles. We are supplied in 2 x 2 twill weave fabric however we do have the ability to customize carbon tubes in order to meet specific mechanical requirements. Fibre type direction and ratios can be changed to alter the structural properties.
This type of profile has a high specific mechanical resistance (related to its weight), lightness, rigidity, great resistance to fatigue and vibrations, resistance to oxidation and corrosion, and low coefficient of thermal expansion and durability.
Pultrusion is a technique of continuous production of linear profiles with a constant section. This process has many similarities to extrusion, the main difference is in the feeding system: in extrusion, the material is pushed through the matrix (mold), and in pultrusion it is extracted from the matrix. This procedure does not allow variations in shape, sections, or curves. Products that can be obtained by this process can have sections or thicknesses of up to approximately 15mm, with epoxy resins and up to 70mm with polyester resins.
Products made with this technology have excellent tensile strength characteristics due to the linear orientation of the fibres in the direction of the axis of the profile; if it is also necessary to have a good transversal resistance, a woven fabric is used as a backing in specific quantities and weights.
